[GREN-Exec] 100 Debates for the Environment Sept 8 -English debates scheduled

Dear Debate boosters,

I'm in favour of robust pusblic discussions by those running for office in elections.  i've attended such debates quite  a few times. But is this the best use of out limited time and resources as dvocacy organizations? Such "town hall debates"  usually attact only small audiences, and I worry that the stakes this time, particularly around climate change, are critical.  I'd rather spend my available time putting some hard work into backing candidates we already know could make a difference if elected.

Hi Susan,

Well it's just too soon to be having another election for heaven's sake. But here we are.

Reep is partnering with rare on the Cambridge debate. Our Comms Mgr Tim Alamenciak is copied here.  We would not have the capacity to take the lead on one of the other ridings, but are happy to provide support through questions, graphics, or promotions.

We are also going to circulate some questions to the candidates and post their responses. Tim can share those.

Are you aware of anyone who is organizing debates in Waterloo Region through 100 Debates, as we did last time? If not, are we ready to take it on for Sept 8? They probably have to be on Zoom, which might make it easier to organize. I'm prepared to help with one for my riding of Kitchener-Conestoga. Who's up for this?
