Too bad this letter didn't come sooner. The Great Leader is in KW today and I've been itching for some exercise for my picketing arm.
I took part in a Zoom meeting organized by the Wellington Water Watchers on aggregates last week. I was disappointed: all they wanted to discuss was to campaign for a moratorium on new aggregate licences. I pointed out that this did nothing for resolving the crucial problems at existing operations and the dangerous new changes in the aggregate act which would allow operations to go below the water table, as well as the problems re natural areas/rare species with this new bill . The participants suggested contacting MPPs and organizing for a rally. I mentioned the success of our actions a year ago in getting municipal councils to back statements opposing sections of the omnibus bill that would allow ignoring the Clean Water Act, but none of the 40-odd participants showed any enthusiasm for such a strategy. I fear lots of wasted energy and more lost ground in combatting this awful regime.
