[GREN-Exec] Recs on regional government restructuring

About 6 weeks ago I visited Waterloo mayor Jaworski to ask about the report. he said that the report would go directly to cabinet, so that it might not make it to the public. He had heard nothing about it at that time. I could ask MPP Fife to put in a request for making it public. Let's talk it over early next week.

yesterday I went to the 50th anniversary celebration of outdoor/enviro ed in the Waterloo region school system. There were a number of short talks. One educator showed a little video clip of a pair of students with severe learning and neurological disturbances sitting on a rotten log and quickly calming down and following prompts to notice various things, and getting more and more absorbed for a whole hour, with good learning outcomes that they had not been able to achieve through more customary teaching methods. Catherine Fife was next up and quipped "maybe someone could figure out a way to get Doug Ford to sit on a rotten log for an hour". The crowd erupted in laughter and cheers. Another gave a moving comment about the urgency of the climate crisis and the power of env ed to enlighten young people. He endsd by saying "I think it's noteworthy that the words "earth" and "heart" are spelled with the same letters.

Indeed, John. We’ll have to see where things go from here. I’m hoping the report gets buried and never seen again and the government forgets all about this awful exercise.

Cheers,
Kevin.

Hi All

I think I heard on the CBC this morning a statement that the government restructuring report had been submitted to the Minister and that no decision on public availability etc had been made. I use the word "think" because I wasn't fully awake yet and only started listening intently part way through it so I may have misunderstood.

Have you heard anything?

If it has been submitted, should we be sending in submissions stressing that the report needs to be made public immediately so the public can make input on the findings to the government?

I just looked on google and found the CBC piece there. I wasn't dreaming - but maybe having nightmares.
