Thanks for all your updates on Chris – and  I didn’t know about the retirement picnic, I would have liked to have gone. L

 

I was trying to reach Chris because I’m looking for about $2,000 and hoping there was something of a “slush fund” the Region could part with. I don’t want to spend lots of time chasing grant money and then having to do lots of paperwork. 

 

So here’s the news – we’re organizing a 20th anniversary Dandelion Festival for May 26, 2018 in Waterloo Park. It will also be the 10th anniversary of the Ontario pesticide ban. Seemed like two fun things to celebrate. Looking at about the same format of free dandelion food samples, earth-friendly exhibitors, dandelion t-shirts, craft area, reading, speakers, music, and plant exchange or sale. Good old-fashioned hippy family fun lol

 

So if you have, or know someone who has, money to throw at this, I’ll take it! Or if you can spare some time that day or the day before to prep food for the festival. 

 

Fun fact: We originally got Mapleton’s to make dandelion ice cream for the festival and they still make it! AND if you go to their website it’s the first flavour listed of the ice creams they make. Love it!

Chris retired this summer so his region e-mail no longer works. They had a great party/picnic for him in Victoria Park that some of us attended.
