Hi John and GREN Exec,

Thank you for agreeing to donate $75 to the Good Green Death Forum. I had to put the new credit union account (it’s the Your Neighbourhood Credit Union at Fischer-Hallman and Ottawa) in my name because I don’t have anything (yet!) to prove that we are an organization – she read me a list, but none of them applied (i.e. registered charity, meeting minutes, terms of reference etc), so please make out the cheque to me, Susan Koswan, until I can get some minutes or whatever to change the bank account.

I am making steps to formalize this into The Good Green Death Project and have now registered the domain name goodgreendeathproject.ca and I’m hoping to make it a local umbrella resource for both the pre- and post-death experience and include info about death doulas, legal rights of families and working towards composting as an option. My idea is to create a good green death co-operative. I’ll set up a meeting with the co-op people in Guelph in Sept. to figure out how to do that.

Thanks again for being part of this ride!

Susan K

Hi Susan,

Glad to see a plan coming together and things moving forward. I saw the recent TED Talk and it was very compelling. I am in favour of GREN helping to sponsor part of the costs along with other organizations. I’m actually surprised their rental rate is so high or that there would be one for this sort of business building event for them.

Keep moving forward from my perspective.

Kevin.

Hi GREN Exec,

Just wanted to give you an update on my compost the dead project.

I have made arrangements with the Williamsburg Cemetery to have a Good Green Death Forum and Death Cafe on Saturday Oct. 28, 2017 from 1 – 4. They have agreed to discount the rental fee by $100 because they will be talking about the city’s green burial options at Williamsburg, which takes the rental down to $359 for the three hours. The Grand River Unitarians will be donating, but not sure how much at this point. Would GREN be interested in sponsoring/donating a portion? I’m also still waiting on an answer from the Green Burial Society re donations.

This will be free to the public, will hold about 50 people who will have to register.

My goals are to build public support for green burials and warm up/introduce people to the idea of composting and becoming a tree, and to provide a safe, supportive environment for people to talk about mortality (Death Cafe). Below is the draft agenda.
