Hi GREN Exec,
We have an opportunity for GREN to be a sponsor for the showing of the documentary Seed at the Princess II on Nov 23 and 24. It’s a natural for Seeds of Diversity and Bob Wildfong (see below) is in. I think GREN can do the intros, and I have a few people lined up to ask to join the panel for the first night. Options that the Princess had originally offered were that we pay the $400 to rent the theatre for one night and then we get the box office. Since John has already secured the film, I don’t know if that’s still an option.
I guess ideally, the Princess would just show the doc for 2 nights and we’d be there with a panel to talk about it afterwards.
I would like to get back to John Tutt at the Princess soon to firm up plans.
Are we in?

Thanks Susan,
I'm sure Seeds of Diversity would be able to support this, and I'd be glad to discuss crop diversity and seed banking issues.

I wanted to confirm first that we had the movie, a venue and dates.
So Bob – are you interested in being part of this with Seeds of Diversity?
John – is this an event that GREN would like to be part of?
Jeff – any interest from the WFA?
If I don’t hear back from any of you by early next week, then I’ll let John Tutt know that there are no partners.
Thanks,
Susan

Hi Susan,
Thanks for being in touch with John about this!
Do we have any confirmations on speakers?

Hi Everyone,
See latest from John Tutt at the Princess. Let me know ASAP so I can let him know:
1) If he can just show it and spread the word about it, or
2) Have it at the Princess II, with panel members, short introduction and then perhaps 30 minutes of Q & A afterwards. I have an 8 am class on both days so I won’t be staying much after 9:30 or 10.

Susan
I have been in touch with film distributors of SEED.
I am looking at screening it twice Nov. 23rd and 24th at the Original Princess Cinema.
Nothing is final yet. The Original PRincess does not have the sapce for group tables etc...like the Twin.
If you think there will be significant "partners" invovled with these screenings, I can move to the Twin.
I choose the twin for a couple of reasons:
1. it is a large cinema at 177 seats.
2. it has the printed program, so we can get advance word on screenings.
Let me know your thoughts or if it matters to you. Any partners will be well recognized either from stage or tables in the lower lobby...

Hi, what a great idea Susan!
I like Kim's suggestion, I wonder if Angie would be interested?
And what about someone like Jennifer Pfenning from the Roundtable who also has the ag perspective? Not trying to volunteer anyone's time here - just thinking out loud. And what about Taarini Chopra? She used to be the co-chair of the Roundtable and isn't she a seed expert? Has the idea been run by the Princess yet?
I have committed to two speaking engagements already this fall, so with everything else going on, I don't think I can commit to representing the Roundtable, but I love the idea!

Hi Everyone,
Below is info about a documentary, SEEDS (not to be confused with a Canadian horror movie of the same name without the caps)
Further to GREN’s success with the Pollinator Forum last year, bringing this film to the Princess with a panel of Bob, Jeff (or an ag rep) and Joel (or someone else who can speak for the Food Roundtable) seems like a good fit. Hmmm, would like at last one woman on the panel though...
I can contribute some time to this because it’s a critically important issue, but my course load is pretty heavy.
Let me know if you want to do this.

Synopsis: Few things on Earth are as miraculous and vital as seeds. Worshipped and treasured since the dawn of humankind. In the last century, 94% of our seed varieties have disappeared. SEED: The Untold Story follows passionate seed keepers protecting our 12,000 year-old food legacy. As biotech chemical companies control the majority of our seeds, farmers, scientists, lawyers, and indigenous seed keepers fight a David and Goliath battle to defend the future of our food. SEED features Vandana Shiva, Dr. Jane Goodall, Andrew Kimbrell, Winona Laduke and Raj Patel.
SEED: The Untold Story is Executive Produced by Marisa Tomei, Marc Turtletaub (LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE), and Phil Fairclough (GRIZZLY MAN, CAVE OF FORGOTTEN DREAMS).
