I believe I only heard back from Greg in support of this - should I send the
GREN logo? I'm good with it.

Sorry if you did reply and I forgot - this last week has been very stressful
and confusing.

Subject: [healthycommunities] FINAL REQUEST: Seeking Your Support on
Sidewalk Snow Clearing in Kitchener, Waterloo, and Cambridge

Dear Kitchener, Waterloo, and Cambridge community groups and organizations,

The Pedestrian Charter Steering Committee would like to follow-up with a
reminder and final request seeking your support - in the form of adding your
organization's signature to a letter to our city councils - in our efforts
to improve the City of Kitchener, City of Waterloo and City of Cambridge
sidewalk snowclearing policies.

Our committee has noted that the current by-laws do not adequately serve the
needs of members of our community who walk or use assistive mobility devices
in the winter months according to criteria laid out in the Pedestrian
Charter that all three cities have adopted.

We have drafted a letter (please see attached) to the city councils
requesting a review/reassessment of their respective sidewalk snowclearing
bylaws and pointing out some of the problems with the by-laws currently in
place. We would like to add strength to our letter by including the names of
groups and organizations in our community that share our concerns and
support our request for such a review/reassessment of the bylaw. A number of
community groups and organizations have already added their names in support
of our letter before the Pedestrian Charter Steerin Committee made a
presentation at the City of Waterloo council meeting in support of this
issue. We would like to send our letter to all three councils with as much
support as possible and so we are following up to ask: would your
group/organization be willing to lend support to this issue by being listed
in our letter as supporting organization?

We welcome your feedback and request your response by the end of the month
-- May 31, 2011.

If you know of any other groups not on our list that might be potential
supporters of this initiative please let us know.

We look forward to hearing back from you -- and thank you for your support!

The Pedestrian Charter Steering Committee
