[GREN-Exec] LRT position

John,

Good question. I met with Jane Mitchell (who has just been elected GRCA Chair!) earlier this week about the LRT. She said that the Region will be releasing their revised LRT plan on Tuesday, Jan 25th. She had no idea of its contents but felt pretty positive about it.

GREN has already approved and passed a position on the importance of Rapid Transit. I wonder if we should:

a) await the Region's updated plan and then get GREN to review/revise our support document

or

b) anticipate a positive event on January 25th and be out there in the public and media with our support and position right at the onset.

As I ponder things I feel that Option B is best and that really there isn't anything that needs to be changed in our original document - it is still quite relevant and valid. Even the point you raise below has been agreed to by the other levels of government and is proceeding. I think that we should keep moving forward as I have yet to see anything that would change our approved position and really only makes it more relevant and important than ever.

Were we ever able to get a meeting set up with Nancy Button or any of the other Transit planners?

Cheers,
Kevin.
