[GREN-Exec] A superb article about the quarry by investigative journalist Tim Shuff

The postal code of the quarry proponent's address begins with L0L. Perhaps significant!

Freelance environmental and outdoors journalist Tim Shuff has written one of the best investigative articles I've seen in a long, long time about the quarry issue. Do take a look - it's a real model of how to construct a thorough expose, particularly about the corporate and political interests behind an environmental issue. You can find the article "High stakes in the high country" at Shuff's website: http://timshuff.com/in-the-hills-fall-2009/

This is great, now both Susan B and I can have some real fun. Do you think we should write some cheques to the Harper campaign and put John’s signature on it? LOL

I have already given my blessing for the letter, so mail away Susan B!

Thanks,
Susan K

Hi Gren Exec—

I need a quick response from each of you about whether to send this letter off on behalf of GREN. Susan K. put it on letterhead with John’s signature. It’s a motherhood-statement of objection to the Melancthon quarry.

Otherwise, I’ll send it with just my signature. It must go off by tomorrow morning at the latest to meet the deadlines.

Thanks!

Susan B.

Hi Susan B,
I think the letter is perfect! I put it on GREN letterhead and John had sent me his signature for something else so I inserted it. I’ve attached copies in Word and pdf and would suggest you send the one in pdf since sometimes things get shifted around in transit.

Thanks for doing this!
Susan K

Hi GREN Exec-

Attached is a draft letter opposing the Highland Companies’ proposed limestone quarry. Can we send it on behalf of GREN? It’s very generic, since I don’t have the time and skill to write a long, technical letter---but one more letter from a group opposing can’t hurt, however general.

I think John is away, so I put my name on it---it must be signed---but is there a better way?

Please make any and all suggestions to strengthen the letter. It has to be in the mail by April 18.

Susan B.
