Hi GREN exec,
I'm not sure what we decided about GREN executive, but we should probably
talk about whether the other members want us to continue as the GREN exec.
I thought of this a few days ago but promptly forgot until now, so maybe we
could add it to the agenda. Or you could refresh my memory about out
protocol. I think GREN has been around for 2 years this April?
And I believe it's my turn to do the minutes.

Our meeting this month will be an unusual one - occurring in two places:
We will start at 7:15 at Cambridge City Hall and then go to the home of GREN
founding members Daphne and Gord Nicholls for the rest of our meeting.
Thursday January 21:
7:15 pm: Cambridge City Hall, 50 Dickson Street (in downtown Galt). Tour of
this "green" building led by the designer Bob Paul.
8:15 pm: Daphne and Gord Nicholls' home, 36 The Crestway, Kitchener
1) Updates on GREN Committees
2) Brainstorming on GREN goals and work for 2010
3) Updates by GREN members.
Because of the extra time involved in moving between locations, we expect
this meeting to go until 9:30.
Please read the note below from Daphne with details on the City Hall visit
and on how to get to the Nicholls for the 2nd part of the meeting.

Hello GREN members,
Our next GREN meeting will be a "progressive" one. You might like to car
pool.
We'll start, as usual at 7:15, at the new Cambridge City Hall in Galt. It is
an award-winning building with Gold LEED certification and many
environmentally-friendly components. We'll have a one hour tour of the
building with the man who was influential in its design, Bob Paul and also
Adam Cheney, starting at 7:15 pm, Thursday, January 21st. (Check the
Cambridge City Hall website for a map). To avoid the stoplights in Preston,
I like to drive down Blair Road and George St., turn, left and go over the
Park St. bridge, and past 2 sets of lights to Cambridge St.. Turn right on
Cambridge St. to the entrance to the parking lot on the left, behind city
hall, opposite Thorne St. There are doors to the lobby from three sides of
the building.
The second part of the meeting will start at about 8:15 at Daphne and Gord
Nicholls' home, which is north of 401, near old highway 8/King St. E. We
live in a "covenented community" that began about 58 years ago, Grand Hill
Village. "The Village" has been a terrific example of participatory
democracy, and is a major reason for our interest in the environment.
Coming north from Cambridge on King St. E. pass the lights near East Side
Mario's, and Sportsworld Dr., on the right, the lights by the Brick, on
the left, and move to the left lane past the TD Canada Trust, at Deer Ridge
DR.. This is the 4th set of lights north of 401.
Turn left on Deer Ridge. Take the first right, Grand Hill Dr.. Pass 2 left
turns, Wagon st. in the new subdivision and Folley Lane ( with 4 mail boxes
and no street sign). Turn left on the tail end of Grand Hill Dr. (It's like
a #9). Take the first right, the Crestway, and drive to the crest of the
hill. We're #36, with a cream-coloured mail box. Please, DO NOT park in the
sloping driveway, and watch your step if it's icy.
Dress casually ... if there are more than 20 people you may have to sit on
steps or the floor.
