They were trying to figure out why After lots of tests and detective work, they found out it was near and i think just downhill a bit from where a previous firefighters training sight had been, on an edge of the airport, and the toxicity was coming from the foam the fighters had been spraying on things like burning cars or structures approximating buildings etc. to learn how to put them out. It/ they are forever chemicals that had remained on/in the soil there for years, and gradually, rain and ice melt had leached them into the pond. What to do..can humans even “clean up” such a contaminated body of water. I’m not sure what happened…if any remediation was possible or done.

Lori S.

Sent from my iPad

Begin forwarded message:

From: Lori Strothard <strothjkl@sympatico.ca>
Date: November 22, 2024 at 5:10:11 PM EST
To: Fe de Leon <deleonf@cela.ca>
Cc: John Jackson <jjackson@web.ca>
Subject: Fwd: [All] Opportunity to require public reporting of PFAS releases to the environment by Canadian companies

I support the addition of PFAS to Canada's National Pollutant Release Inventory. Success in this would mean that producers and users of PFAS would have to publicly report every year on the types and amounts of PFAS that they released to air, water, and the ground, as well as how much they transfer off site to disposal and recycling.
