This is in direct contravention to Minister of Red Tape Reduction, local MPP Mike Harris Jr. who has repeatedly claimed that the province has no involvement, that this is a Regional initiative, that everything so far was the Region’s fault, etc.</div><div><br></div><div>So which Minister do we believe? Conestoga Meats has applied to destroy a significant 14 hectare forest parcel as part of its expansion in Breslau on the east side of Kitchener. Although the clearing is very concerning, Conestoga Meats is a co-operative of 158 hog farmers who have each committed to creating a 1 acre forest on each of their own farms to replace the trees lost for the factory expansion.
