Unfortunately despite our amazing collaborative efforts to write the Premier, Cabinet, MPPs, the Environmental Registry of Ontario as well as work closely with all three opposition parties, Bill 185 was approved on Wednesday with none of the needed amendments. </div><div><br></div><div>So now citizens have lost their right to appeal development approvals at the Ontario Land Tribunal which will be for developers only, settlement boundaries can now be changed anytime with almost no restrictions, and Regional Planning Authority will be removed from Upper-Tier Regions with York, Peel, and Durham set to lose it in just a few weeks. Thankfully, no date has been set for Waterloo Region to lose Planning Authority so perhaps there is still some way we can work to ensure like parts of Bill 23 it never gets enacted.</div><div><br></div><div>Kudos to NDP MPP Jessica Bell, and MPP Catherine Fife who spent hours earlier this week doing everything possible in the Legislature to try to get last minute changes and amendments to Bill 185.
