Join with others from across our community to protest and let them know your thoughts about Bill 66. Bring a banner or a sign to explain that you value protecting our water, land and air and that public consultation is core to our democracy. Bring some friends and join the fun.</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">We will meet at the main entrance to Bingemans at 425 Shirley Ave around 5:30pm for about an hour while they all arrive. If you are driving please try to find a place to park at other businesses along Shirley Ave. Grand River Transit Bus #34 runs every half hour out to Bingemans leaving the Charles Street terminal and returning every 30 minutes.</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">Please sign up and share with your groups, networks, and friends on the Facebook page created for tomorrow’s protest event by a number of community groups:</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class=""><a href="https://www.facebook.com/events/535908943571780/" class="">https://www.facebook.com/events/535908943571780/</a></div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">Lets see if we can have some fun and send a direct message to the Premier on the need to kill Bill 66! </div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class=""><b class="">2) MPP Video - </b>If you are looking for motivation to head out into the cold and protest on Friday evening, here’s a video released by a Brantford Conservative MPP Will Bouma talking about the new housing he’s excited about Bill 66 bringing to his riding while grossly misrepresenting costs and facts:</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class=""><a href="https://www.facebook.com/WillBoumaBrant/videos/vb.170182870094553/452231438643083/" class="">https://www.facebook.com/WillBoumaBrant/videos/vb.170182870094553/452231438643083/</a></div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">Residential housing isn’t even supposed to be possible under Bill 66’s exemptions to our water, Greenbelt, farmland and planning protections though it’s always been suspected it is a primary motivation for the legislation. Perhaps MPP Bouma is being just a bit too forthright in his video message to constituents. The reality is that our good planning systems and protections aren’t killing jobs - they are the reason for our booming economy, our high quality of life, and thriving communities. Businesses around the world are flocking to Ontario and our economy is leading the G20 because we are such a great place to live already. We don’t need to be weakening our protections and threatening our farmland and ecosystems to bypass rules to attract business.</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class=""><b class="">3) Brantford Expositor Article </b>- kudo’s to the folks at Hold The Line for continuing to garner great media coverage to help ensure the public is aware of concerns about Bil 66 - not only in our region but in surrounding areas as well. Here’s a recent article from Brantford where they are quoted:</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class=""> <a href="https://www.brantfordexpositor.ca/news/local-news/bill-66-raises-concern" class="">https://www.brantfordexpositor.ca/news/local-news/bill-66-raises-concern</a></div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">We can’t underestimate the challenges others have elsewhere in the province that don’t have the good planning or good local government that we enjoy here in Waterloo. The opportunity for us to serve as a model for other places and to help inspire change elsewhere is significant.</div><div class=""> </div><div class=""><br class="webkit-block-placeholder"></div><div class=""><b class="">4) Bill 66 - What You Need To Know </b>- Due to the tremendous response to their blog posting, Ontario Nature has released a great one page PDF overview about Bill 66 that organization can share, print and distribute to help raise awareness:</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class=""></div></body></html>
