As promised at the GREN meeting last week, attached are the comments that we submitted to Waterloo Region on their proposed updates to the Water Efficiency Master Plan and the Water Supply Master plan.

In many ways, these updates reflect substantial progress – especially on the issue of a pipeline to Lake Erie. These two plans put the timing for a pipeline, if needed at all, to after 2050. The reality is that the pressure for a pipeline is slipping away because of the major progress being made on water conservation and efficiency. As our comments point out, although we have made substantial progress, we can still quite easily go much further in this direction.
