<div>I was once admissions officer for my department at UW. I once got an application that seemed odd - the potential student already had a bachelors degree, his record was very poor, there was no indication that he was interested in environmental studies,
and someone had already made a note on one page of the file. So I phoned the applicant who lived in Florida. A woman answered, I asked to speak to John X, and she replied "Oh, are you the coach calling from Canada for my son?" I learned that way how recruiting
was done for the basketball team. To be fair to the kid, who just wanted to play basketball, I admitted him as non-dgree student so that he could take whatever courses he wanted, not have to pretend that h was interested in environmental studies, and play
basketball to his heart's content, and not have to bump an applicant with a genuine interest in the environment. Then, in early September, a shadow fell over my office desk. I looked up to see an amicable, 7 foot tall young man who said "Thanks for getting
me in. By the way, what are the chicks like up here?"</div>

<div>City Council as well as all Regional Council as well as MP and MPPs and the Premier have been getting flooded with emails since Sunday afternoon. I believe the count is over 400 all in a form letter. I have been trying to send them into a file to respond
