Big red text headlines make me shudder since it is usually indicative
of a story of National Enquirer quality to follow. Indeed, those photos
make sensational images, but there's very little meat being cooked on
their bones as a story! There are environmental impacts from turbines
just as there is from everything we people do on this poor planet. I
doubt the impact of these fires is significant compared to, say, a
coal-burning plant during the run of a day. I did a very quick search
and found that the newest turbines apparently have fire detection and
suppression built in. Here is a company that offers the technology,
including for retrofitting.<br>

I hope there will be better sources of energy in future. As much as
turbines can make a pleasant appearance on a landscape when seen in
small numbers, I've seen the mess it makes of a natural hillside, such
as in places in California where there are 1000s of them in a small
area. As much as I read that a nuclear facility is clean energy, I
can't help but be troubled by the none too trifling detail of how we
deal in the long term with its toxic and persistent wastes. If I had
the choice of the two sources of power in my backyard, I'd still gladly
stick to chasing windmills :-)<br>

is something I have seen for the first time....and it certainly gives
one pause for thought about them being environmentally
friendly. You might remember that Judy Greenwood Spears moved to
Wolfe Island and she agreed to many wind mills on her farm a few years
ago. Guess it seemed like a good idea then ...but there are more
than the health complaints. There was another group fighting against
letting the govt. give permission to the erectors of these things IN
the water just off shore because of the probable contamination of the
water with washing them down and oiling them ....the old ‘stuff’ would
drip down into the lakes contaminating the water and endangering
