This is obviously because batteries are rapidly increasing in proven cost-effectiveness. But again our RTI project engineers -- in their great innovative wisdom -- are reluctant to explore how batteries (or a "convertible" diesel-electric hybrid first) could save approx. 1/4 the LRT system cost by not installing a catenary system initially -- and possibly never as batteries improve! Oh how irrational fear of failure can shift the brain to almost a chronic lower reptilian level (fight or flight response) robbing us of our potential intelligence! If an LRT system design is to be approved by a now very wary Regional Councillors and citizens, then the RTI project engineers must somehow develop innovative courage -- sometimes miracles happen!
