<p class="MsoNormal" style="LINE-HEIGHT: normal">After a too-long silence (due mainly to computer problems), I would like to resume sending out announcements of local events on peace and environmental themes, as well as occasional action alerts I hear about. To those who haven't received these from me before, Welcome. I hope you find them of interest.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="LINE-HEIGHT: normal">This week we are in the thick of <strong>Organic Food Week</strong>, with 3 events in KW starting today with the film FRESH at the Princess. </p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="LINE-HEIGHT: normal">Also, you may have heard that last Sunday, on the date 10/10/10, the climate action organization <strong><a onclick="return top.js.OpenExtLink(window,event,this)" href="http://350.org/" target="_blank">350.org</a></strong> held world-wide "work parties" to impress on politicians that action on climate change is very important to the public. Here in Waterloo, the event will take place on Sat. Oct 16. See below.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="LINE-HEIGHT: normal">Sat. Oct. 16 is also the annual <strong>World Religions conference</strong> at U of Waterloo's Hagey Hall (free, open to all). </p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="LINE-HEIGHT: normal">And in November a conference on <strong>A Peaceful Economy</strong> is planned, with keynote speaker Paul Hellyer.</p>

Join us and envision our city as a greener and more sustainable place. The event will consist of a short walk around Uptown Waterloo, and “tagging the space” – creating visual symbols in places where trees could be planted, walking could be encouraged, and solar panels could be installed. Together we are working to bring our carbon emissions down to 350 parts per million CO<sub>2</sub> in the atmosphere – an amount scientists say is the safe upper limit. Currently, there are 392 parts per million, and this number is increasing by about 2 parts per million each year. </span></p>
