<BR>Regional Transportation Master Plan – Moving Forward 2031<BR>Public Consultation Centres<BR> <BR>You have an important role in the future of transportation in Waterloo Region. Get involved in the community conversation by attending one of our public consultation centres.<BR> <BR>The following public information centres will be open house format. Drop in anytime from 6 to 9 p.m. during which time we invite you to learn about the Regional Transportation Master Plan.<BR> <BR>Thursday, April 8, 2010 - 6 to 9 p.m.<BR>United Kingdom Club<BR>35 International Village Dr.,<BR>Cambridge<BR> <BR>Tuesday, April 13, 2010 - 6 to 9 p.m.<BR>St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church<BR>54 Queen St. N.,<BR>Kitchener<BR> <BR>Thursday, April 15, 2010 - 6 to 9 p.m.<BR>First United Church<BR>16 William St. W.,<BR>Waterloo<BR> <BR>The Regional Transportation Master Plan will determine investment priorities and supporting policy for transportation over the next 20 years. The Region will present the preferred transportation network, developed to meet future transportation demand in Waterloo Region. This transportation network includes an integrated rapid transit and bus network and strategic road improvements to best meet the Region’s transportation goals and objectives. You will have an opportunity to ask questions of staff as you tour our displays.<BR> <BR>For more information, please contact us.<BR>Infoline: 519-575-4572<BR>Email: movingforward@region.waterloo.on.ca<BR>www.movingforward2031.ca<BR> <BR>Regional Transportation Corridor Guidelines:<BR>The draft Regional Transportation Corridor Guidelines will also be presented at these open houses from 6 to 9 p.m. The Guidelines are being developed to guide the process for planning and designing complete streets that include space for all modes of transportation. The Region recognizes that there are many different types of streets throughout Waterloo Region with different uses, nearby buildings and different requirements for cars, trucks, transit vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists. A classification system was developed to categorize different types of streets throughout the region and prioritize the different elements that make up a complete street, including:<BR>* Widths for traffic lanes, sidewalks, cycling lanes and buffer zones<BR>* Street furniture, landscaping and public art zones<BR>* Dedicated transit lanes<BR>* Intersection design and transition areas<BR> <BR> <BR>These meetings are served by Grand River Transit.
