Absolutely. Kitchener filled it full of
debris from storm water, which, to their credit is admirable, and kept the
pollutants from ending up in the Grand River/Lake Erie. They need to take
it a step further and design a tank or retention pond that will remove the
stormwater runoff contaminents and allow the cleaner water to
decant or flow into and through the Lake. At present the lake is the
removal device and will need to be dredged regularly, which is difficult to
do.

The sediment may be comtaminated to the point
where it will not be able to be disposed of on farm land but will have to be
landfilled.

At the same time steps should be taken to make sure
contaminents are not left laying around to be carried into Schneider Creek when
it rains. Cleaning up dog fecies, removing shopping carts (one source of
heavy metals), making sure catch basins are emptied, etc.
