in the ODA Journal this month. Dr. Mitra Doherty has also started a local
initiative called “Smile Bank” a few months ago in order to come up
with a positive and action oriented work-around to fluoridation. She is
working with the local food bank, starting to distribute toothbrushes to groups
that support women and children. This initiative appears to directly
target socio-economic disadvantaged dental-caries disparity, something water
fluoridation claims to do but fails to do (research available to substantiate
‘fails’). To date, approximately 3000 brushes have been
donated, with a promise of $2000 donation from a foundation in <st1:place
w:st="on"><st1:City w:st="on">Waterloo</st1:City></st1:place>. Smile bank
has a registered charitable number through the food bank. Mitra is
accepting all offers of help.<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>
