What might come closest is the issue of the fluoride toxic waste (sometimes radioactive) from extracting phosphorous for fertilizer which is discharged into the drinking water that Maude Barlow want us all to drink, This is good of course because it saves money on expensive waste disposal while creating new customers for Big Pharma. Passive & naive citizens as so necessary to create excessive profits for the smart & evil ones of our species -- so keep scaring them & dumbing them down. He indicated that Air Boss has a certificate of compliance. If I want to see what information that they have on Air Boss, then I have to make an FOI request. At this point in time I will not make a complaint because I know from past experience (Wilmot EAC) that MOE will do nothing unless the municipality (Kitchener) wants action. To eventually get action I will approach the W-K-C core corridor issue from the point of view that highly educated people in the periphery -- or similar outsiders or developers -- cannot be attracted into a polluted W-K-C core corridor. So polluting industries must be replaced by clean ones because no matter what we do, a chemical industry will never clean up adequately except for the uncomplaining (and always fearful) lower-middle class.<div><br></div><div>Keep in mind that I was a member of Wilmot Township's EAC for 5 years, then with Wilmot Environmental Advocates for another 6 years. (During this period Susan B. & I talked a number of times about local environmental pollution issues, including the idea of forming a Regional Environmental Group.) I also have been dealing toxic chemical problems in various ways since 1967 in Quebec initially but mostly in Ontario. Besides doing a lot of pro bono work on toxic chemicals, especially with toxic chemicals in sewers (excesssive H2S sewer gas, Safety Clean VOC discharges, ... ) that cause problems in homes and schools. Before my retirement my company, Enviro-Health Systems, specialized in low levels (below the inadequate regulatory standards) of toxic chemical combinations in buildings that caused disabling health symptoms. </div><div><br></div><div>I would suggest that GREN consider having a committee on chemical pollution especially in the W-K-C core corridor (e.g. did your know that Maple Leaf Food's J. M. Schneider plant in a residential area on Courtland St. has large quantities of the very dangerous chemical Anhydrous Ammonia? How adequate are JMS's safety procedures & has the community been informed of the potential danger [destroys your lungs] lurking next store & what to do in a major release?) So I would like to place it on the Agenda for the Jan meeting. <b></b></div><div><b><br></b></div><div><b>We just cannot depend on regulatory agencies doing their job as we might expect them to do it!
