<DIV>I'm getting some feedback from the Federal Liberal party of Canada that you might be interested in. I've been sharing concerns with them in regards to their recent delay of Bill C-311. Only 14 liberals supported the bill's approval without delay prior to Copenhagan and as a result we're going in with nothing. Plus the Liberals sat quietly by as the Tories spent over $300 million in shoddy science to capture carbon underground. </DIV>

<DIV><FONT face="arial, helvetica, sans-serif"><SPAN style="FONT-FAMILY: Georgia" lang=EN>In terms of "ACTUAL" mechanisims to reduce green house gas, it further blows my mind that the Liberals are allowing t<SPAN style="FONT-FAMILY: Georgia; COLOR: black">he Harper Government to invest $342.8 million in the </SPAN><SPAN style="FONT-FAMILY: Georgia">Transalta Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) Project.</SPAN></SPAN></FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face="arial, helvetica, sans-serif"><SPAN style="FONT-FAMILY: Georgia" lang=EN><SPAN style="FONT-FAMILY: Georgia"></SPAN> </DIV>
<DIV><SPAN style="FONT-FAMILY: Georgia">This took place in spite of the fact that no full-scale integrated Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) system for a coal fired plant or tar sands developer now exists. Commercial availability is still at least 10 to 15 years away. </SPAN></DIV>
<DIV><SPAN style="FONT-FAMILY: Georgia"></SPAN> </DIV>
<DIV><SPAN style="FONT-FAMILY: Georgia">With the exception of bitumen upgraders, CCS is largely unsuitable for tar sands. Emissions are so diverse from the project that a 2008 government study concluded "that only a small portion of the CO2 streams are currently amenable for CCS due to both the size of the emission streams and the concentration."</SPAN></DIV>
<DIV><SPAN style="FONT-FAMILY: Georgia"></SPAN> </DIV>
<DIV><SPAN style="FONT-FAMILY: Georgia">Vital information needed to create general governance capable of managing wide-scale commercial deployment of CCS is not yet available and the Alberta Carbon Capture and Storage Development Council describes CCS as “expensive and currently uneconomic" without taxpayer subsidies of one to $3 billion a year over several decades.</SPAN></DIV>
<DIV><SPAN style="FONT-FAMILY: Georgia"></SPAN> </DIV>
<DIV><SPAN style="FONT-FAMILY: Georgia">1. In light of the concerns noted, what reasonable evidence is there to provide to Canadian taxpayers to justify the expense of this investment. </SPAN></DIV>

<DIV><SPAN style="FONT-FAMILY: Georgia">2. What fiscal return will Canadian taxpayers see from this investment of their tax dollars? </SPAN></DIV>

<DIV><SPAN style="FONT-FAMILY: Georgia">The truth is, without C-311 ratified by the Liberals, and with a silent voice of oppostion towards Harper's dictator like machinations, there is little to show any difference between the Librerals and Conservatives in my view. </SPAN></DIV>

This proposal has been on the table for years, it made through three readings and was on it's way to the Senate prior to the last election and was put on the backburner until it was reintroduced by Jack Layton under private members bill.</DIV>

<DIV>On October 13th, I wrote a glowing letter about Michael Ignatiff's leadership on Climate Change for what he said in Vancouver and yet I had no idea how the liberal party voted to delay this globally important bill prior to Copenhagan. I am terribly disappointed in Mr. Ignatiff. His deeds in failing to pass this bill was like adding vinegar to milk. All the hopes I had in him have soured. He is repulsive as a leader to me. </DIV>
