Good Day,

Kudos to everyone working hard at so many recent rallies, protests, and opportunities to confront Premier Doug Ford. As a result of our communities demanding accountability and the media continuing investigations a second Conservative cabinet minister, Kaleed Rasheed (Minister of Public and Business Service Delivery) has not only just resigned from cabinet but has left the Progressive Conservative caucus to sit as an independent MPP!

1) Breaking News - Another Cabinet Minister Resignation - It seems that there were questions about information given to provincial Integrity Commissioner J. David Wake investigating former MMAH Minister Steve Clark and Kaleed was the Minister with the questionable Las Vegas trip with developers. Apparently, the Integrity Commissioner was told incorrect information that the Minister and developer had only met each other a few times when it seems they were actually quite close friends with Rasheed’s wife even working for the developer. Once again the corruption of this provincial government has been made apparent for all to see. Read more about this breaking news:

There continues to be more questions than answers. There was still a current staff member from the Premier’s Office present along with a former provincial staff member on the same trip in Las Vegas which has yet to be explained and two ministers resigning within two weeks is almost unprecedented in Ontario. We need to keep up the pressure and demand that the Greenbelt takeouts be rolled back and returned to the Greenbelt (along with repealling Bill 23 and other forced boundary expansions) and a full RCMP investigation into just how developers are making billions of dollars off very concerning decisions of this government.

2) Premier Faces Tough Greenbelt Questions from Farmers at International Plowing Match - Kudos to everyone who has made it to the International Plowing Match to help volunteer at the Keep The Greenbelt Promise booth. The reaction from the farm community has been impressive with the vast majority of people passing the booth expressing concerns about the Greenbelt scandal, so many signing petitions we ran out, and many more lawn signs distributed to IPM attendees.

Every Party Leader and MPP in Ontario was at the IPM event on Tuesday. Doug Ford was in the hot seat throughout the day with questions about the Greenbelt scandal and almost every news report about the Plowing Match included the Greenbelt scandal surrounding the provincial government. Social media coverage has also been significant as people demand the Greenbelt be restored and farmland protected:

3) Rally Updates and Upcoming Events - Congratulations to the hundreds and hundreds of citizens who packed the Hamilton Special Meeting of the Planning Committee at the Ancaster Fairgrounds. It was impressive to see such an incredible community turnout and the strong defiance of the Hamilton Mayor and Councillors to the forced urban boundary expansion and Greenbelt land removals by the province.

There are many upcoming rallies and events where we can continue to send a strong message to Queens Park:

Bowling Green - International Plowing Match (IPM) - Sept 19th to 23rd
	Richmond Hill - Sept 23rd
	Oakville - Sept 23rd
	Scarborough - Sept 23rd

4) Other Headline News - In addition to leading the news today with the latest cabinet minister resignation, and leading yesterday with the International Plowing Match, the Greenbelt scandal along with the Hamilton situation, changes to the Regional Reviews, record low poll numbers, and rallies across Ontario have also garnered significant media coverage:

5) Forced Urban Boundary Expansion Pushback - It’s fantastic to see citizens and elected officials in Hamilton and Ottawa pushing back on the forced urban boundary expansions that are poised to destroy thousands of acres of local farmlands.

With Waterloo Region and other municipalities facing similar forced expansions under very questionable similar circumstances, against local decision making, and with no justification, rationale or data provided from the province as to how these decisions were made and these lands chosen in a secret backroom process we need to learn from these challenges and undertake similar actions:

7) Concerning Letter From MMAH Minister Paul Calandra - Attached below is the PDF of the disturbing ultimatum letter that was discussed at our Friday at 5:30pm Update Call about the MMAH Minister giving municipalities across Ontario until October 16th to complete a chart in full listing if the leader of each community supports each of the Housing Task Force's 74 recommendations and then for them to rank their top five recommendations. Municipalities that don’t have their leader return the completed chart by the deadline will be disqualified from funding from the recently announced $1.2 billion Building Faster Fund. It’s a troubling ultimatum that will penalize financially municipalities or municipal leaders that don’t fall in line with this government.

8) Former Queen’s Park Staff Question Current Greenbelt Scandal Processes - In an outstanding article in the Globe and Mail, two former Queen’s Park Senior Staff question how the Ford Greenbelt Fiasco could have ever occurred given all the due-diligence processes that would have to be overriden (article also attached below):

15) Provide ERO Feedback on The Proposal To Return Lands To The Greenbelt - The provincial government has opened a file on the Environmental Registry of Ontario (ERO) regarding their proposal to return one of the smallest 15 parcels removed from the Greenbelt (ironically the parcel that comes closest to actually meeting development and servicing criteria…) due to the developer attempting to sell it to foreign investors rather than building homes. Speak up to help ensure these lands remain protected in the Greenbelt and there is a strong message sent to the government:
