Good Day,

Things continue to get even more absurd and unbelievable with all the latest news on the Greenbelt Scandal as Minister Steve Clark finally resigns, Doug Ford doubles down threatening to take even more land from the Greenbelt with plans to evaluate the entire Greenbelt with a ten year review several years early and study over 700 parcels of land for removal and development, five new Ministers are appointed, and it’s becoming clearer just how much insider knowledge the mysterious Mr. X had months before the public. Premier Doug Ford is in full damage control mode and Tuesday’s hour long press conference had unprecedented levels of misinformation along with totally incorrect rhetoric about the Greenbelt, its inception, and its purpose.

We need to speak up louder than ever to protect our farmland, our water, our environment, and for the future we want to see. We will get a chance this coming Friday, September 8th at 4:00pm to send a message directly to Doug Ford and all his area MPP’s at a Rally being planned for FordFest at Bingeman’s in Kitchener. Details are as follows:

1) FordFest Rally - this Friday - This Friday, September 8th Doug Ford is bringing FordFest (or more frequently referred to as Fraudfest) to Bingeman’s Park in Kitchener. Labour groups and others have reached out to see how we can all work together to ensure a memorable welcome for Doug Ford to our communities with a Rally in front of Bingeman’s from 4pm to 6pm.

We need to send a strong message regarding the Greenbelt Scandal. We can make provincial headlines if we can get more protestors outside of Bingeman’s than they have attendees to their carnival inside Bingeman’s. The labour, education, healthcare and other unions will be working with us for a strong presence. We need volunteers to help distribute and set-up signs, help with our greeters table, get petitions signed, and help with security to keep everyone safe. Please let Mike or Kevin know if you would like to help volunteer and can assist with any of these roles.

Parking is going to be a challenge so we urge you to carpool, take transit, take the Walter Bean Trail along the Grand River, or park on area streets such as Hesh Crescent, Cedarview Place, or residential streets south of Victoria Street and walk a few minutes to the Bingeman’s Centre Drive protest location.

The newest poster from the Waterloo Labour Council for the Rally is attached below and we are hopeful that we can set records for attendance - sending a really strong message to the Premier and provincial government.

We’ve already had news coverage about the planned protests:

Please be creative with your signage - there’s lots to comment on - and tell Doug Ford directly the future you want to see.

Look for our Greeter’s Table with the large Greenbelt Promise Banner to connect with us, sign the latest petition, get more lawn signs, and for any communications at the Rally.
