Two big happenings to share here.

Wilmot no longer fighting Hallman gravel pit due to a “settlement.” A community meeting organized by Citizens for Safe Groundwater is Feb. 26 at 3:30 p.m. at Puddicombe House to discuss this.

Wilmot council will not defend its decision to deny the Hallman Pit at the Ontario Land Tribunal, paving the way for the controversial gravel pit to go ahead

Also in the news: Enbridge’s death spiral. (Their words not mine).
Enbridge is asking the Ontario regulator for a customer rate hike to pay for a $16-billion expansion and replacement of its gas infrastructure because they are loosing customers to heat pumps & clean energy.
48 municipalities in Ontario have declared climate emergencies. There are also 21 communities in Ontario urging the Ontario government to phase out gas-fired electricity generation. 
There is lower average gas use per residential customer, declining rates of new customers, weaker economic growth outlooks & Ontario regulator is encouraging more competition. Enbridge wants to raise costs between $28 and $193 more annually per customer.
