GREN folks,
A quick reminder about our rally happening in the City of Waterloo tomorrow (Sunday April 2nd) from 2pm to 3pm in support of our visionary, sustainable Regional Official Plan and against the provincial forced urban boundary expansions that Hamilton, Halton, and others have faced.
They are calling for a beautiful sunny day and we already have an impressive list of attendees confirmed including MPP Catherine Fife, Green Party Leader MPP Mike Schreiner, MP Tim Louis, MP Mike Morrice, NFU President Jen Pfenning, municipal councillors, youth advocates such as Lyndsay Dajka, and others.
The King Street North location in the City of Waterloo provides a unique venue with the amazing Blue Springs wetland complex full of beavers, great blue herons, and rare wildlife along with the Forwell Trail on the East side of King Street showcasing the impressive nature and greenspace within the city, while the Inn of Waterloo lands on the West side of King Street shows the possibilities for sustainable intensification with plans for redevelopment to apartments, townhomes, shoppes and services for thousands of people in a complete community on numerous transit routes and utilizing existing infrastructure rather than a forced boundary expansion of unaffordable, farmland-destroying urban sprawl.
We hope that you can join us advocating for:
- a better, more sustainable future,
- respect for local decision making and our visionary Regional Official Plan,
- housing affordability and complete, walkable communities,
- better farmland and greenspace protection,
- the repeal of Bill #23.
The location is easy to reach on Grand River Transit, it is a very short walk just south of the Conestoga iON LRT station, and there is lots of parking available at the Inn of Waterloo parking lot who have provided permission for us to park along the east and south sides of their large parking area.
Be creative and have fun making some signs to send Doug Ford a message. Invite your friends and help make this a great event.
Cheers,
Kevin.
