Hi Kevin,
This submission is incredible. It concisely addresses so many issues. And the research nails the points made. Where to start must have been mind-boggling.
When the commentary period opens, I’m sure we can facilitate a groundswell of support for this submission and for the ROPA 6.

A giant, warm, thank you, to you, Kevin Eby and Mark Reusser.

Kindest regards,
Sandra

Good Day,

Please find attached a submission to the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing prepared by Kevin Eby, Mark Reusser, and myself supporting Ministerial approval of the Region of Waterloo Regional Official Plan Update (ROPA 6).

This submission focuses on the amount and locations of the Community Area expansion supported by the Region and concludes:

“ROPA 6 complies with the legislated requirements of the Planning Act, conforms to the Growth Plan and is consistent with the Provincial Policy Statement and the LNA Methodology. ROPA 6 is also strongly supported by the applicable First Nations. There appears to be no Provincial policy basis that requires or even supports substantial Ministerial modifications to ROPA 6.

We strongly urge the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing to support the Region of Waterloo in its efforts to ensure the residents of this community continue to experience a prosperous and sustainable future by approving ROPA 6.”

We need to ensure that our region continues on its current successful trajectory for the decades ahead and that our provincial government is supportive of this incredible Regional Official Plan update with it’s focus on sustainability, complete 15 minute communities, the missing middle, active transportation, housing affordability and so much more.

In the coming weeks the Minister will seek feedback on our Regional Official Plan on the Environmental Registry of Ontario (ERO) in a 30 day comment period. We hope that you too will speak up and send a clear message to Queen’s Park about the future that you would like to see.

Please share any questions or ideas.

Sincerely,

Kevin Thomason, Grand River Environmental Network
Kevin Eby, RPP, PLE
Mark Reusser, Waterloo Federation of Agriculture
