[All] Local Rallies This Weekend - Repeal Bill 23, Save The Greenbelt and Our ROP

There is a still a good chance to affect things that affect us deeply in Waterloo Region.  Conservative MPPs may have followed Doug Ford's orders this time, but they are worried by the growing outrage. Just this afternoon, Environment Minister David Piccini called me back to reassure me he was taking my concerns seriously.  Let's show our local Conservative MPPs we expect them to work to repeal this Bill or at least change aspects of it.  It's not all carved in stone. 

 

Let's Rally Dec 3 and 4 to show local MPPs

·         we care deeply about regional planning,

·         we want to protect all the innovative measures the Region of Waterloo has implemented over the years, e.g. the Countryside Line, measures to protect Environmentally Sensitive Landscapes and our groundwater supply, ION rapid transit, planning which has focused on urban intensification and saved our valuable farmland

·         we don't want a heritage act that protects only mansions built by rich people

·         we care about environmental protection and the Greenbelt

Some signs will be provided, but your creative, heartfelt signs will add a lot.

 

Let's use the ERO (Environmental Registry of Ontario) to change Bill 23..

·         Comment on proposed amendments to the Greenbelt Plan ERO 019-6216 by Sunday December 4

·         Comment on proposed changes to the Ontario Heritage Act ERO 019-6196 by Friday December 9

Back in 2019, heritage advocates learned that posting many Environmental Registry comments about Bill 108's proposed changes to the Ontario Heritage resulted in those changes being delayed for years, and ultimately dropped out of sight.  Together, we can change Bill 23.
