 FYI
EBR is being updated. Public input needed. Details below.
The Ontario legislature no longer appoints an Environmental Commissioner nor does the ECO release their annual reports anymore which played a key roll in our local water sustainability education and outreach programs.
I attended this meeting. It gave several interesting insights on what needs to be done to help strengthen the EBR system.
The Environmental Bill of Rights allows the public to give feedback on existing EBR requests and allows public review on policies as long as the policy has been in effect 5 years or longer. The EBR also allows concerned citizens of Ontario to submit requests for investigations regarding environmental infringements and to request new policy.

Below is the link to the CELA online meeting that took place Nov. 2/2022.

 Hello everyone -
Thank you for registering for and/or attending yesterday's webinar "Enhancing Environmental Accountability under the EBR: Review of the Law Commission of Ontario’s Discussion Paper".
We were pleased to see so many in attendance, and appreciated all of the thoughtful questions that were posed during the session.  Please take a moment to fill out our post-webinar survey if you haven't already.
A recording of the webinar can be found on CELA's YouTube channel or on our website.  The slide decks are also on that webpage.
Please be sure to submit comments in response to the LCO's discussion paper - you can find all the information on their webpage here.
Should you have any additional questions, please feel free to get in touch with me.

Thank you,
April
