[All] Greenbelt West BBQ - Sunday, Sept 11th, 12:30pm

Hi GREN Folks,

Since our inception the Grand River Environmental Network has sought to span the entire Grand River Watershed.  While we have always had members in Guelph and Brantford, the geography of such a large watershed doesn’t always work in our favour.  

With the Paris-Galt Moraine Greenbelt expansion opportunity a new Greenbelt West Alliance was formed last year comprised of groups in Guelph, Waterloo, Wellington County and Brant County along the Paris-Galt Moraine area.  GREN has been an active participant in the Greenbelt West Alliance and we are all being invited to a BBQ social and strategic planning session.  Details are as follows:

	Date: Sunday, September 11th
	Time: 12:30pm to 4:00pm
	Location: Historic Beattie-Blair Barn at the Marcolongo Farm, 2162 Gordon Street, Guelph, Ontario
	Cost: Free!

A lot has a happened since the Province announced the Greenbelt Consultation in February 2021 including creating the Greenbelt West Coalition, an ambitious vision for expanding the Greenbelt, the Ford government reneging on their commitment to expand the Greenbelt in a meaningful way, and now organizations across the province trying to figure out how best to deal with a re-elected Ford government for the next four years.

This event will not only be a fun, outdoor BBQ to socialize with other like-minded and concerned people and also a planning session to discuss challenges, opportunities and how we can best work towards successful Greenbelt expansion and better watershed protection in the years ahead (as Andrew McCammon and the Ontario Headwaters Institute will also be part of the meeting).  We have a lot of allies and the momentum/need for Greenbelt protection will continue.

A full agenda and details will be forthcoming in September.  For now, please reserve the Sept 11th date on your calendar and plan to attend.  We can figure out options for car pooling, etc as time gets closer.
