Hey folks. New report shows Credit River Watershed at risk because aggregate activities are not following standards.
This info and recommendations made are what we could use and include to further our Regional Official Plan as we recommend Green Development Standards and revise Aggregates, and Source Water Protection.

With apologies for duplicates

We and several groups of students have had a busy eight months, the pandemic and any pretence of a summer lull notwithstanding, and we are pleased to release the first of four reports being published over the next few weeks.

The first publication is a fabulous effort from students in a capstone project at the University of Guelph on The Landscape Impacts of Aggregate Extraction Sites in the Credit.

The full 60 page report is available here.

In addition, there is a great set of presentations in a 40-minute video on our YouTube Channel at Landscape Impacts of Aggregate Extraction Sites in the Credit Watershed, August 2022 - YouTube.

The conclusions are captured in this slide, and bear further discussion:

Toward that end, the report and video are being shared with Gravel Watch Ontario, another partner in this project, and will be discussed in their meeting in late September. We are available for other discussions as well.

Finally, please note that we will be issuing more frequent e-mails than usual over the next 6 weeks as we release the remaining reports, launch the fall series of The Water Table, and get ready for the Great Lakes Public Forum in Niagara Falls sept 27 – 29.

As always, we look forward to talking with you downstream,
