Hi everyone - link about rallies:

(engagingnetworks.app) a note about this highway proposal - When we
drive from KW to Toronto and back, a huge portion of the 401 is being
widened, and widened a lot, like from 3 lanes each way to 5+ each way, so
before considering a whole new destructive highway, it could be argued it
would be best to take a "wait and see" approach.if the widening helps
relieve quite a bit of the congestion pressure, and people will likely be
able to get around faster, it will lessen the need for another new highway.
Ford has been saying "The 401 is a parking lot, and we're getting so much
pressure from truckers and businesses etc. to do something about it asap."
Well something IS being done- give it time to be completed and used, and
re-assess need.
By the way does anyone know who planned for and budgeted for the huge amount
of construction that is going on along the 401? It must be costing a huge
amount, more than I could imagine Ford ever paying for...bridges being
rebuilt, the huge widenings, new pipes and infrastructure - was this
approved under the Wynn government but is just happening now? I know local
Daiene Vernille (sp?) did a lot of work getting road improvements in place
under Wynn.
By the way, when driving out of the town of Bridgeport heading east on
Bridge Street the other day , a huge amount of earth is being moved around
on the flatlands between the Grand River and Bridge street as shown here -
<https://www.google.ca/maps/@43.4761333,-80.4655268,16z> Google Maps - does
anyone know what is happening there? At first I thought it might be for the
extension of the new highway 7 to Guelph, which apparently has to go in the
air as a flyover above the river, as it extends off the end of Wellington
Street. It might be that, but the area is huge, and its all being prepared
for something---houses? Industrial park?
