I expect there will be a more complete report later, but Kitchener
Council voted unanimously in support of the staff report. Councilor
Sarah Marsh introduced an amendment to make a stronger statement - i.e.
if Bill 66 passes, City of Kitchener would NOT be passing an Open for
Business bylaw. The amendment was deferred, there was a recorded vote on
both items. I can appreciate Mayor V's comments that Bill 66 is not in
its final state, the municipalities are still finding their way on how
to work with the new provincial government, and that if it is passed,
the City will be prepared to bring this amendment forward. There were
differing opinions about what is considered "playing nice in the
sandbox". lol
