I met this morning with Teresa at First United Church, 519 745-8487, ext 201, office at firstunitedchurch.ca
I have booked the Sanctuary (the main part of the church) with pews seating 400, 6:30 to 9:30 pm, February 7th, with the event occurring from 7:00 - 9:00. Cost is $195 for the sanctuary, $100 for the sound system, and $60 (@ $20/hr) for the sound system technician.
They can provide tv, vcr/dvd, overhead projector, scene, sound sound system, and more.
Their rules are reasonable. Rules that should be mentioned in our publicity are:
1. The agreement does not include the use of the small church parking lot. All cars must be parked off the property. (The church backs right onto the big uptown square parking lot behind the LCBO, so this not a problem).
2. First United Church is a smoke-free building.
3. It is also now a "single-use bottle"-free building. So no commercial bottles of water are allowed, but you can bring your own reusable bottle with refreshing municipal tap water in it. I told Teresa that our members would greet this rule with enthusiasm.
4. "Please respect other groups and events in progress at the time of the event." There will be two other groups in other rooms in the building: cubs, and a choir practice.
John, please find out from out speakers what their equipment needs will be.
Laura, please touch base with Teresa to discuss refreshments. We would have to pay extra to rent the kitchen. A sit down meal would not be possible because the cubs will be in the room that serves as a banquet hall.
We will be able to have tables in the foyer.
I've listed myself as the contact person at the present time.
I realize I'm missing several non-GREN people would should be receiving this. Laura: Please forward to them and cc me so that I know who they are for future emails regarding planning this event.
