Please read Greg's e-mail below with details about the demo location, and ideas for what to do. It includes a request for someone to make a banner to show up in the after-dark situation that we will be in.
Hoping to see you there.

> Re: Protest at the Ford fundraising dinner. The entrance to Bingemans with its inconspicuous sign, may be a difficult to see in the dark. It's opposite the big white building of Waterloo Brewing at a slight curve in the road. There are two big spruce trees on either side of the entrance. You might be able to park at Waterloo Brewing, and certainly just down the street from Bingeman's entrance at the big Boston Pizza Restaurant and Sports bar and Kingpin Bowling on the same side as Bingemans. There is a public sidewalk on the side of the road as well as space on the lawn in front of the spruce trees by the Bingeman sign.
>
> Since it will be dark, and most people will be passing by in their cars, it would be good to have one really big banner for people to see by their headlights as the cars turn into Bingemans. I suggest "Remember the tragedy in Walkerton. Don't let it happen again. STOP BILL 66 NOW!".
>
> Could any of you make such a banner? It's beyond my technical ability. I would pay for materials and fetch and deliver. Or do you know someone/someplace that could make it? I'll pay for it. Time is short, so please get in touch with me right away. Phone would be best: Greg Michalenko at 519 725-1059, but I will check my emails every few hours. I'm not on Facebook.

> I tried to get a ticket to the event (spaghetti at $25 a plate), but enquiries at two MPP offices were fruitless, and an online purchase request at the website of the PC Party came up "sold out". MPP Amy Fee's assistant wasn't even aware of the event. I'm disappointed - I've never had a chance to yell out to a premier with my mouth full of spaghetti before.

> Here’s the latest Bill 66 community activities:
>
> 1) Protesting Bill 66 at Doug Ford's Fundraising Dinner at Bingemans Tomorrow - Doug Ford is coming to town for a fundraising dinner tomorrow Friday, January 11th, with local Conservative MPP’s. Join with others from across our community to protest and let them know your thoughts about Bill 66. Bring a banner or a sign to explain that you value protecting our water, land and air and that public consultation is core to our democracy. Bring some friends and join the fun.
>
> We will meet at the main entrance to Bingemans at 425 Shirley Ave around 5:30pm for about an hour while they all arrive. If you are driving please try to find a place to park at other businesses along Shirley Ave. Grand River Transit Bus #34 runs every half hour out to Bingemans leaving the Charles Street terminal and returning every 30 minutes.
>
> Please sign up and share with your groups, networks, and friends on the Facebook page created for tomorrow’s protest event by a number of community groups:

> Lets see if we can have some fun and send a direct message to the Premier on the need to kill Bill 66!
>
>
> 2) MPP Video - If you are looking for motivation to head out into the cold and protest on Friday evening, here’s a video released by a Brantford Conservative MPP Will Bouma talking about the new housing he’s excited about Bill 66 bringing to his riding while grossly misrepresenting costs and facts:
>
> https://www.facebook.com/WillBoumaBrant/videos/vb.170182870094553/452231438643083/ <https://www.facebook.com/WillBoumaBrant/videos/vb.170182870094553/452231438643083/>
>
> Residential housing isn’t even supposed to be possible under Bill 66’s exemptions to our water, Greenbelt, farmland and planning protections though it’s always been suspected it is a primary motivation for the legislation. Perhaps MPP Bouma is being just a bit too forthright in his video message to constituents. The reality is that our good planning systems and protections aren’t killing jobs - they are the reason for our booming economy, our high quality of life, and thriving communities. Businesses around the world are flocking to Ontario and our economy is leading the G20 because we are such a great place to live already. We don’t need to be weakening our protections and threatening our farmland and ecosystems to bypass rules to attract business or create urban sprawl.

> 3) Brantford Expositor Article - Kudo’s to the folks at Hold The Line for continuing to garner great media coverage to help ensure the public is aware of concerns about Bil 66 - not only in our region but in surrounding areas as well. Here’s a recent article from Brantford where they are quoted:

> A local environmental group is calling on Brantford and Brant County to stand up for water and reject Bill 66.“Brantford and Brant County have worked hard to put source water protection plans in place, and to ensure that their official plans best reflect their community’s vision and need...

> We can’t underestimate the challenges others have elsewhere in the province that don’t have the good planning or collaborative local government that we enjoy here in Waterloo. The opportunity and need for us to serve as a model for other places and to help motivate change elsewhere is significant.

> 4) Bill 66 - What You Need To Know - Due to the tremendous response to their blog posting, Ontario Nature has released a great one page PDF overview about Bill 66 that organization can share, print and distribute to help raise awareness and understanding:

> 6) Local Municipal Council Presentations and Upcoming Events - Please come out and join the delegations presenting on Bill 66 at area councils next week. We are working hard with each municipality to get resolutions drafted opposing Bill 66. We are also nearing 300 registered attendees for our Tuesday event with ECO Dianne Saxe at Kitchener City Hall. It is astounding to see the interest and response so far.
