[All] GREN Meeting Next Thursday September the 13th - decisions to make

Date & Time: Thursday September 13th from 7:15 - 9:15. 

Location:  Christian Science Sunday School at 64 Water Street North, Kitchener. Enter at the Francis Street door of the church and go down to the Sunday School. It is one block from King St so there is good access to public transit. There is a small parking area around the church plus on-street parking on Francis and Water Streets.

Sorry about the short notice for this meeting, but there are a few matters that we need to address quickly.

Theo and his wife are moving back to Europe in November so we need to have a new treasurer and new operator for the website before then. We need to choose a new treasurer at this meeting so we can make the transition before November. Please consider taking on this position or think of people that you think might be interested in taking that role.

Also it is a year since our last GREN meeting. This doesn't mean that GREN members have not been active on a lot of issues, and GREN mechanisms have been used to promote those issues and events. However, it is essential that we get together and discuss the future of GREN, its role and what we want to do. Are there changes we want to make in our role? What could we do to make GREN function more effectively? This could include considering whether we have the correct current positions and definitions of the respective roles.

I know this is short notice. If you aren't able to make it to the meeting, please send me or send with someone who is attending the meeting your thoughts on the role of GREN and changes we might make, as well as your thoughts on a new treasurer and on the organizational roles we need at GREN. With the exception of the treasurer position, we won't make decisions at this meeting on who will fill the other positions we decide to have.

We will also have time at the meeting for people to make updates on issues that they have been working on.

Upcoming Events: GREN is a partner in two upcoming events. Details on these two events will be sent to you very soon.
September 20, 6:30 - 8:30: All Candidates meeting for municipal elections in Waterloo region. Jointly organized by GREN and other environmental groups in the region. GREN's Susan Koswan has taken a lead in organizing the event.
October 16, 6:30 - 9: Partnering with Nature to Heal the Biosphere: This is an event that had been planned for last year with GREN as a co-sponsor. But it was delayed when the initiator of the event, Michael Purves-Smith, died. We are working with Shannon Purves-Smith to have this event happen in his memory.  GREN members, Susan and Darrol Bryant, Susan Koswan and I have been working with Shannon organizing this event.
