Dear Grenlings,

The Minister of Transport will be making an announcement at 2:00 pm today (Monday), Dec. 17th, at the VIA station. I think it has to do with GO service. I'm going down with a picket sign something like: "Remember Walkerton. Bill 66 threatens our health. STOP IT NOW!"

You're welcome to join me.

- Greg

Subject: [All] Bill 66 update

At our GREN meeting last Tuesday, GREN decided to organize with other groups in the area to stop the provisions in the recent Ontario government plans that would make it easy to by-pass measures essential for protection of Ontario's environment from a wide range of perspectives. We and other local groups have been very active this week on this matter. This week we will be in touch with you about things you can do to stop these provisions.

The Canadian Environmental Law Association has just put out the following: a news release, detailed legal analysis of Bill 66, and commentary. This is the link to the news release with links in it to the analyses. https://www.cela.ca/newsevents/media-release/mr121618

Toronto – Today the Canadian Environmental Law Association (CELA), which represented the Concerned Walkerton Citizens at the Walkerton Inquiry, released a detailed legal analysis raising the alarm about the Ontario Government’s proposed Bill 66 (Restoring Ontario’s Competitiveness Act, 2018).

This will help you get more informed on the proposals.

Watch your e-mail this week to learn about actions that you can take.

John
