Subject: [All] GREN get-togethers in November and December
Please note the following events in your calendar. More details will follow.
1) Thursday November 24, 6:30 - 9: Showing of Seed movie followed by panel
discussion at Princess Theatre in Waterloo. GREN is co-hosting this event.
Award winning documentary, <https://www.facebook.com/seedtheuntoldstory/>
SEED: The Untold Story, follows passionate seed keepers protecting our
12,000 year-old food legacy. In the last century, 94% of our seed varieties
have disappeared. As biotech chemical companies control the majority of our
seeds, farmers, scientists, lawyers, and indigenous seed keepers fight a
David and Goliath battle to defend the future of our food. In a harrowing
and heartening story, these reluctant heroes rekindle a lost connection to
our most treasured resource and revive a culture connected to seeds.
2) Thursday December 9, 7:30: Status of Hidden Valley and GREN Party: The
first half hour will be a GREN meeting focussed on planning for further
protection of Hidden Valley in Kitchener. Gord Nicholls will be here for
that discussion. At 8, a GREN party will start. This will be held at the
Bryants in Elmira. Please bring a fingertreat for the party. Also partners
and friends are welcome. Details will be sent as we get closer to the event.
3) CANCEL November 22nd GREN meeting: Because of our November 24th event, we
would have two meetings that week if we kept the November 22nd meeting.
Therefore, we are cancelling that meeting and will have our next regular
meetings in January and March.
