Environmental Politics- Planning for Action: Globally, Nationally, Provincially, and Locally
Environmental politics has increasingly hit the media throughout the last year. Including the COP21 Paris Agreement, Ontario’s Climate Change Strategy and the proposed Ontario cap and trade policy; political action against climate change is taking centre stage. Join us to learn how these plans are going to impact local organizations and the leadership role that we can play as part of implementing change. Featuring a panel of experts on environmental policy, we will explore these topics in a way accessible to those with minimal current knowledge but also rewarding to those that have been avidly following the headlines. All are welcome. This event will include a hot breakfast. When: Tuesday, May 3rd, 2016

Exploring Sustainability Beyond Carbon
Sustainable Waterloo Region has been exploring new ways to support local organizations in environmental sustainbility since 2009. As measuring and tracking carbon, the foundation of our Regional Carbon Initiative, is now the norm for many organizations, we are starting to look beyond carbon.
Join us to explore the importance of a variety of aspects of environmental sustainability. You'll have the opportunity to learn the technical aspects of air quality, waste and water from subject area experts while considering how these contribute to your organizations' environmental impact.

Regional Carbon Initiative
Carbon Cleanse
Our Carbon Cleanse is next week starting on March 14th! Regional Carbon Initiative (RCI) would like to invite all RCI Members to participate. The Carbon Cleanse is the RCI's 30-day work-place sustainability challenge that finishes just before the Evening of Recognition on April 14th. It is designed to engage your colleagues on sustainability issues. Follow along and add to the conversation using #CarbonCleanseWR.
The winner will be awarded the Carbon Cleanse trophy and there are TONS of Leaderboard points up for grabs for everyone else who participates.

ChargeWR Throughout January and into the beginning of February stakeholders from across the region came together to collaboratively plan to maximize electric vehicle (EV) adoption across our region. As a result, applications for 19 new EV charging stations have been submitted to the province's EV Chargers Ontario program. Way to go Waterloo Region! This month's commuters of Waterloo Region:
Funding Announcement The government of Ontario recently announced that they are contributing $1 million dollars from their Green Investment Fund to the Sustainability CoLab network. This large contribution of funding from the Government of Ontario will help support organizations like Sustainable Waterloo Region through the CoLab network.
