Hi all,
About 8 GREN members attended yesterday's provincial consultation about Climate Change at the KPL. Well done GRENNers! Lots of ideas were shared about potential ways to reduce climate change. While GREN members offered their suggestions, I was particularly impressed by the younger people who were so articulate. It was a very informative evening.
I'm forwarding a note from Catarina Lindman who represents Citizen's Climate Lobby, which is endorsing Carbon-Fee-and-dividend in Canada. www.citizensclimatelobby.ca.
She has included links for submitting your comments, to which I'll add one given at the meeting for further insight, before the March 29th submission deadline: www.ebr.on.ca.

Subject: Ontario Government Consultation in Kitchener
I thought last night's consultation at the Kitchener Public Library was awesome! The facilitators kept us on track, urging us to keep our input to the point, so that as many voices as possible could be heard. Kitchener had the largest turn out - 158 people, and the most people speaking - 54, which topped the second highest, which was Guelph at 42.
There were many voices calling for carbon fee-and-dividend. I didn't hear any voices calling for a tax shift or a cap-and-trade system. Overall, the people there seemed to be in general agreement. There was some difference of opinion on whether nuclear energy should be part of our future electricity generation. I want to thank everyone who came to the meeting and contributed their ideas! I felt very hopeful in the company of so many concerned citizens!
Here's a hopeful video on the Citizens Climate Lobby website I'd like you to see about a roadmap to deal with climate change.
Here's the website for submitting your comments regarding the discussion paper:

Note that you can also vote and comment on ideas. Carbon fee and dividend is in 6th spot.
