Our pollinators are in trouble! To draw attention to their plight, the Sierra Club of Canada is doing a cross-Canada tour.

How can we, as concerned citizens and mostly city-dwellers, work together with beekeepers and farmers to help protect the vital and free service provided by bees and other pollinators?

Join us for a free, public meeting to learn about pollinator health, pesticide use and environmental protection with speakers:

·        John Bennett - Sierra Club's National Program Director, who will discuss pollinators and pesticides;

· Paul McKay - author of The Kepler Code, a fictional novel about a world where pollinators go extinct and agriculture collapses; and

· Dr. Laurence Packer - York University professor and native bee specialist.

Panel discussion will follow and will include reps from the local farming community.

Displays and sale of bee and pollinator-related books and items.

Good morning,

We are preparing a public event on LRT Station Area Planning on April 7. The details are:

Where: Knox Presbyterian Church (50 Erb Street W, Waterloo ON N2L 1T1)

When: Tues, April 7 from 5:45pm-9:00pm

The event will be open to the public, and will include an overview of the project, as well as facilitated roundtable discussions designed to understand:

· What is unique and important about the Station Areas?

· What opportunities / challenges does LRT present for the Station Areas?

· How should the Station Areas evolve over the next 10, 20, 30 years? What should they look like, what role should the City have?

(Note, this discussion applies to the 7 LRT stations in Waterloo: Conestoga Mall, Northfield at Parkside, R & T business park, UW Davis Centre, Seagram, Uptown, and Allen - EG.)

To attend, please RSVP to Adam.Lauder at waterloo.ca . We will have more details available next week.

Thanks,
