[All] Help requested for Region's strategic plan meeting

Hi GREN,
I'd be grateful if GREN would push protecting all of Hidden Valley to protect the Region's water supply, and maintain the urban forest and biodiversity of that beautiful area.

The GRCA water document ignored the possible development of an industrial park, a business park and subdivision in Hidden Valley in the future. The wetlands and creeks in Hidden Valley flow into the Grand just up river from where water is siphoned off for 25% of our drinking water. so, the GRCA issued no concerns about protecting that 200 acre parcel of land.

I think the original ESPA boundaries in Hidden Valley were include in the OP. Will those boundaries remain? (The Hidden Valley ESPA was shrunk at one point,, to accommodat the River Rd, extension through the centre of Hidden Valley.)

Recently the federal government announced a new infrastructure fund of $150,000, Supposedly the intent is to help build trail and park infrastructure!!! Perhaps you could suggest to Region's officials that they could apply for $5 million to $ X million to purchase all of Hidden Valley.

Regretfully, Gord and I won't be at the meeting.

Thanks for keeping the focus on these and other so essential-for-life issues in the Region!

Daphne (and Gord)

It summarizes the input they received from the public and staff, and at the end has the draft focus areas that the Regional Council has put together and their strategic objectives. This should be useful in your prep as I think this is the document they are wanting to consult with us on. Lorie will bring a hard copy for everyone so no need to copy it.
