Hello,

Below is an e-mail from Elizabeth Boston at the KW United Way who is spearheading the initiative for a community hub similar to the Communitech Hub with space for community group offices, meeting rooms, hot-desking, collaborative areas, etc.

They are seeking input from area community groups on needs and desires in primarily the City of Waterloo area but also the surrounding area as well. If you can complete the survey at the link below they would greatly appreciate it.

I have attended several of their organizing meetings on behalf of GREN and other community organizations and it sounds like it would be a fabulous community asset should it be successfully developed. It could have the power to transform our non-profit community as much as the Communitech Hub has transformed our technology start-up community.

Cheers,
Kevin.

Dear Community Member,

My name is Elizabeth and I am a member of the Waterloo Community Hub Initiative’s Interim Steering Committee. The Waterloo Community Hub is going to be a shared space offering a range of services and gathering space for the Waterloo community that focuses on the importance of fostering community building and development. The Hub and its development are guided by the values of acceptance and respect, inclusion, responsiveness, and collaboration. Beyond traditional co-location, tenants of the space will build intentional community around these shared values, which will enable the Hub as a whole to meet the needs of the community and explore future possibilities. Everyone is welcome at the Hub, regardless of whether you want to access the services offered within it, or just want a place to explore your community and meet like-minded people.

As the Waterloo Community Hub Initiative continues to move through its stages of development, we are beginning to gather more concrete information that will help us to shape what the Hub is going to look like physically. We have already gathered much of this feedback in previous community meetings, but are looking to learn more about the specific needs of individuals, community groups, and networks. We ask that you help us by completing this short survey about meeting/gathering space so that we can get an accurate idea of what is needed in Waterloo.

Is this survey right for you? Please fill out this survey if you:
• Struggle with finding appropriate, affordable and convenient meeting space in Waterloo for your group/organization/networks
• Support the Waterloo Community Hub Initiative but do not necessarily require ongoing office, counselling or administrative space
• Would like to express how you think you could benefit from the Waterloo Community Hub
• Think that you or your group/network/organization could benefit from the Waterloo Community Hub in the future, but are not yet able to commit
Note: if you have already submitted an Expression of Interest form for your group or organization, you do not need to fill out this survey.

You can access the survey by clicking on this link:

Please forward this survey to any of your contacts or networks who you think might be interested in the Waterloo Community Hub!

If you have any questions or want to learn more about the Waterloo Community Hub Initiative, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me using the contact information below.
On behalf of the Waterloo Community Hub Interim Steering Committee, I want to thank you for your time.

Sincerely,
