Dear Mr. Trudeau and Ms. May
Here is Mr. Mulcair's stance on oil subsidies. Could you please share your party's stance on this issue?
It would be greatly appreciated. Email works best for me. Less paper wasted.
Thanks!

Thank you for writing in support of ending oil subsidies and shifting the focus to sustainable energy. We agree that the Conservative's $1.3 billion break every year to the oil industry is an unwarranted subsidy. A billion dollars is a lot of money, it could be better spend to: - lift every Canadian senior out of poverty;- improve our health care system;- create thousands of green jobs and help fight climate change if it were invested in renewable energy, clean technology or energy efficiency. This one-sided favouritism is from the same Conservative government that gutted environmental legislation and withdrew Canada from the Kyoto climate-change treaty. New Democrats are calling on Stephen Harper to stop his billion-dollar big-oil giveaway—and start investing in the sustainable economy Canadians deserve. Join our campaign to stop this hand-out to big oil and sign our petition here: http://petition.ndp.ca/bigoil New Democrats have a plan to protect the environment and move Canada to a sustainable economy. Along with re-introducing Jack Layton's historic Climate Change Accountability Act, we are proposing an Environmental Bill of Rights, introduced by NDP MP Linda Duncan. I was proud to second this groundbreaking legislation, similar to measures that I helped to pass as Quebec Minister of Environment. The Bill will legally enshrine: - environmental rights for Canadians; and, - the duty of the federal government to take action to protect the environment. I have a vision of how Canada can play a meaningful role as a world-leader on the environment. A New Democratic government will work to: - enshrine the right to clean air and clean water in the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms;- ensure polluters pay for the pollution they create;- redirect the billions paid in subsidies to the fossil fuel industry to the clean energy sector;- invest in wind, solar, and geothermal technologies; creating thousands of new jobs for Canadians;- target the investment of revenue from cap-and-trade into renewable energy and clean technology projects and in the regions where the revenue is generated; and,- assist homeowners and businesses with improving the energy efficiency of their homes and offices Our plan to bring down emissions and meet science-based targets is both practical and achievable. We will: - establish a national public transit strategy- remove sales tax on the purchase of eligible energy-efficient products and create a tax credit for the purchase of these products- ban tanker traffic on the ecologically, fragile BC coast- prohibit the use of lakes as waste dumping sites- improve the Species at Risk and the Navigable Waters Protection Acts- place a moratorium on the use of chemical pesticides that have not been proven safe- create a new recycling program for electronic products containing substance(s) found on the List of Toxic Substances in the Canadian Environmental Protection Act NDP Environment critic Megan Leslie is working hard and pushing for these better solutions. You can follow her work here: http://meganleslie.ndp.ca/environment Although the Harper Conservatives are failing you on the environment, the NDP knows that future generations are counting on action today. That's why we will keep fighting for the policies that will help to create a fairer, greener, and more prosperous Canada. Again, I appreciate hearing from you. Sincerely, Tom Mulcair, M.P.
