Last week Line 9 was shut down by activists around the Quebec/Ontario border. Yesterday it happened again but this time, just outside Sarnia.
Three protesters shut down Line 9 for a second time on December 21st outside Sarnia in protest of the lack of First Nation's consent. Youth advocate Vanessa Gray of Aamjiwnaang was the one who called Enbridge to notify them of the act. She personally shut the valve and closed the line for 90 minutes before being arrested along with two supporters, Sarah Scanion and Stone Stewart.
Aamjiwnaang is surrounded with over 60 petrochemical plants all within a 25 km radius from Aamjiwnaang and Vanessa has been working for many years to raise attention on the plight of her community who is adversely impacted by the toxic releases.   http://www.vice.com/en_ca/read/a-toxic-tour-of-canadas-chemical-valley
Much of their territories were illegally taken leaving the tribe with only 3,100 of the original 10,000 hectares given by Treaty 29. To read more of the closure of the line visit here:

Earlier today on Dec. 22, the bail hearing took place and there were 70 supporters at the court house. All the activists were released on bail with an order to stay away from Enbridge's property.
The next court date is scheduled to take place at the Sarnia Courthouse on Jan 26, 2016 located at 700 Christina Street North Sarnia. http://www.theobserver.ca/2015/12/22/women-charged-in-connection-with-mondays-enbridge-protest
