| This is an emergency appealThe birds returning to the Maritimes are in deep trouble. They are arriving on time but spring is late. The harsh winter has left a thick blanket of snow on the ground preventing birds like woodcocks and robins from finding food.

I asked Nicole Payne of the Hope for Wildlife Society, a bird and animal rescue centre in Seaforth, N.S., if Sierra Club Canada Foundation can do anything to help and she said:”...assistance with bird food will be a huge help. We have more than 20 surviving woodcocks undergoing rehabilitation, more than 30 robins, and a few cormorants just in the past three days. These numbers are expected to grow as we are getting hundreds of phone calls about migratory birds in trouble. We have been purchasing a lot of insects, worms, fish, etc. to feed these guys.”We don’t usually encourage feeding wild birds, but this is an unusual and critical situation. Please contribute to the #FeedTheBirds fund. The proceeds will support the work of the Hope for Wildlife Society, in rescuing, feeding and releasing troubled birds. There is no time to spare. We need to get help to Nova Scotia right away!Click here to donate now!For more details about the challenges Nova Scotia's migratory birds are facing, click hereSincerely,
