(By the way I am sure this won't make the news but my oldest daughter Samantha was audited for her educational expenses this year. We were able to prove all with receipts for moving, rental and school costs but it is ironic how my family and KW field naturalists were both audited at the same time in the same year we both filed a Part II order request for Hidden Valley.)

National News:
Energy East Pipeline might be cancelled for good over this:
TransCanada has delayed seeking approval of of the $12B Energy East pipeline project as it negotiates with Quebec’s Gaz Metro and Ontario units of Spectra Energy and Enbridge Bloomberg reports. The feud centers on TransCanada's plan to convert a 3K km stretch of its mainline gas conduit to carry oil; gas distributors claim that converting the mainline in eastern Ontario would lead to fuel shortages and higher prices, and they want TransCanada to build a standalone oil conduit or a gas line the same size as the existing one - which TRP would cost $1B more than planned and jeopardize the project. ...In spite of the fact the Canadian Nuclear Safety Council admits data on use of pills on children is incomplete according to this news brief I was emailed by the group. Review here:

Subject: Third Party Research : Potassium Iodine (KI) Pill Studies
Four independent third party studies explore and describe the benefits of distributing KI pills in advance to citizens within a 30-mile (48 kilometres) radius of a nuclear power plant, and the need for timely and correct consumption of these pills in the case of a nuclear accident.
The studies indicate such preventative measures can greatly reduce the accumulation of radioiodines in the thyroid gland, as well as the resulting radiation dose. This is an essential measure, since thyroid cancer –, most specifically in children and infants – is one of the most frequently observed consequences of a nuclear accident.
The studies also highlight the need for appropriate administrative policies and increased research on the topic of children and infant consumption of KI pills, to better understand both the effectiveness and the safety of these measures.

Survey of 4000 Canadian Federal Scientists show that 90% feel gagged by the Harper government. Now an open letter has been sent by the Union of Concerned Scientists by national and international scientists stating that it's hurting the ability of researchers to do their work.
