Two New Shows Set to Launch on Rogers TV

Get Real and Go Green this Summer

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

THURSDAY, June 26, 2014 (WATERLOO REGION) – Get “real” and go “green” this
summer! Two brand-new series aimed at encouraging viewers to take a more
natural approach are set to launch on Rogers TV, cable 20. Starting
Wednesday, July 2 at 7:00 PM, local environmentalist Susan Koswan offers
eco-friendly tips and suggestions on Green Scene. Immediately following at
7:30 PM, Real Food 4 Real Life, with nutritionist Jenna Gass, delivers
kid-tested and mom-approved whole-food ideas for busy families. Both shows
were conceived and produced by members of the community.

“Only Rogers gives residents the opportunity to produce local TV that truly
reflects the passions and interests of our community,” says Jeremy Cook,
Supervising Producer, Rogers TV. “Taking better care of our environmental
and physical health is something that really strikes a chord with families.
It’s great to see enthusiasts like Susan and Jenna share their passion and
expertise with the community through these fun, and informative programs.”

Susan Koswan, known for her work with Pesticide Free Ontario, the group that
successfully lobbied to ban the sale and use of lawn pesticide in the
province, pitched the concept of Green Scene to Rogers TV as an effort to
help inspire community members to green up their homes and their lives.

“Most people want to be environmentally friendly, but can be unsure what to
do. Green Scene will show viewers changes they can make in their homes and
workplaces that can make a real difference,” says Susan Koswan, Community
Producer and Host of Green Scene. “It’s a great pleasure to shine a
spotlight on the local eco-heroes who labour away as volunteers or through
their workplaces to improve the environment we live in.”

In the premiere episode, Green Scene highlights ways homeowners can reduce
their energy needs with a special tour through the Residential Energy
Efficiency Project (REEP) House, a century-home in downtown Kitchener that
showcases energy retrofits to the public. Upcoming episodes will profile
local artists who use recycled materials as their medium as well as
information about Waterloo Region’s water system, the Waterloo landfill,
local businesses that are taking green initiatives, and how viewers can save
and conserve energy. Green Scene airs Wednesdays at 7:00 PM, Thursdays at
6:00 PM and Fridays at 2:00 PM.

Premiering Wednesday, July 3 at 7:30 PM, nutritionist Jenna Gass hosts Real
Food 4 Real Life, a new six-part series jam-packed with nutritious and
deliciously simple recipe ideas for busy families. From sourcing local
food, creating stress-free school lunches, peanut-free and gluten-free snack
options, to providing nourishment before the big game, Real Food 4 Real Life
delivers delicious whole-food solutions to every meal challenge. Real Food 4
Real Life airs Tuesdays at 7:00 PM & 8:30 PM, Wednesdays at 7:30 PM,
Thursdays at 7:00 PM and Fridays at 2:30 PM.

Rogers TV’s summer line up also features new episodes of Performance Golf.
Dave Smallwood, a 31 year veteran PGA of Canada Professional and Director of
Instruction at the Golf Performance Centre at Whistle Bear Golf Club in
Cambridge, joins host Van Malatches to demonstrate tips and fundamentals
that will help viewers to take their golf game to the next level.
Performance Golf will air Wednesdays at 9:00 PM, Thursdays at 8:30 PM and
Fridays at 4:00 PM throughout the summer months.
